A lead is easier to work when its next action is written down. The Next step panel on a LeadMapper lead lets you record what to do, when to do it and how urgent it is.
Open the lead and find Next step
Go to Leads and open the business you want to follow up. You can use the board or table to find it. On the lead page, look for Next step. If there are no open tasks, the panel says so and offers Add task.
Write one specific action
- 1Select Add task in Next step.
- 2Give the task a short title that says what you will do, such as “Call owner about website quote” rather than “Follow up”.
- 3Choose the task type and priority. Set a due date if the action needs to happen on a particular day.
- 4Use the details field for context, such as the question to ask or the proposal to send.
- 5Select Add task to save it. The next open action appears in the panel.
Complete, edit or reopen the task
When you finish the action, use the checkbox beside the task to mark it done. The task remains visible with completed work, and you can reopen it if it was marked done by mistake. Use Edit to change its title, type, priority, due date or details. If the next action changes after a conversation, update the task instead of relying on memory.
Record what happened and set the next step
Completing a task records that the action is done. Log the actual call, email or meeting separately in the lead’s activity area so the outcome is clear. Then create a new task if another follow-up is needed. This keeps the lead record useful when you return to it or someone else picks it up.
