From search to research shortlist

How to find businesses without websites on Google Maps.

Start with the business types and locations relevant to your service. LeadMapper brings the returned listings into one business list, where you can filter website availability and choose which candidates to research.

  1. 01

    Choose a type and place.

Start with the service or category you sell to, then choose the town, city and country relevant to your work.

  2. 02

Review the search and run it.

Check the estimate in the app. Choose a focused search or a grid of points when you want to research a wider area.

  3. 03

    Filter website availability.

Choose No website listed, or use the No website · 4.5★+ view to combine website availability with a minimum rating.

  4. 04

    Narrow the research list.

Add phone or category filters where useful. Sort by review count to organise the candidates you want to investigate first.

  5. 05

    Research, export or save.

Check each business’s online presence. Take the shortlist into a spreadsheet or save prospects with a research task in the CRM.

Search a specific market first.

If you are looking for companies without websites listed in a particular market, keep the business type and location specific. Review the returned categories and addresses before broadening the search. Available listing details and search estimates vary; inspect the app’s estimate before starting.

Make the shortlist useful

Choose which businesses to research first.

Use the listing details to organise your work. Website availability identifies candidates, while category, locality, rating and phone information help you decide what to check next.

What no website listed means

A missing website field is a starting point for research.

LeadMapper’s website filter checks whether a website value was returned for the business. Use it to find listings to investigate, then check the wider online presence before deciding on a website proposal.

What the website filter checks

  • Checks: Whether a website value was returned
  • Does not: Discover an unlisted domain
  • Does not: Classify every linked platform
  • Does not: Check whether a site works

A business can have a website that was not returned with its listing, and a populated social or booking URL counts as a website value. For businesses with a URL, review the site manually if you offer redesign or maintenance services.

Google Business Profiles can have website, social and transaction links. Include the relevant links in your research.

Research before approaching a prospect

Check the online presence. Record what you found.

Keep the checks with the business, so you can pick up the research later or prepare for a conversation. Record a specific finding such as “no website found in this check”, with its source and date.

  1. 01

Search the business name and location.

Check that the search result refers to the same business, using its category, address and contact details. Look for a website not included in the listing.

  2. 02

    Review social profiles and directories.

Follow website links where available. A social profile may be the main online presence or may point to an independent site.

  3. 03

    Check the live Google profile.

Review any menu, ordering or booking links on the live profile. These can show how customers already contact or transact with the business.

  4. 04

Look for a parent-company or branch page.

A location may be represented on a group website. Check the connection before treating it as a separate website opportunity.

  5. 05

Record the sources and check date.

Keep what you found, where you found it and any unanswered questions in the lead’s notes. Add a task for the next piece of research.

  6. 06

Ask about the website and business goals.

If you contact the business, confirm the website, the right contact and what it wants to achieve. Use that context to decide whether your service fits.

Start with business types you understand.

Use the categories you already build for as your starting point. These are search ideas to adapt; the fictional Leeds examples show the process, not how many businesses lack websites.

Explore web design leads →
  • Landscapers & gardeners

Research how the business presents its services and projects. Review whether customers can find project photos, service information and a way to request a quote.

  • Plumbers, roofers & electricians

Check the service areas, types of work and enquiry routes. Use your knowledge of the trade to decide which businesses fit your website service.

  • Cleaners & maintenance firms

Look at the services and locations covered, along with the existing quote process. Keep the relevant information with each prospect before making contact.

  • Salons & barbers

Review service information and the booking options already in use. An existing booking platform may be an important part of the business’s online presence.

  • Garages & repair shops

Check how customers find service details, the location and booking or contact information. Record the questions you would want to ask about those needs.

  • Independent professional services

Research the business identity, service information and enquiry routes. Match the candidates to the kinds of projects and clients in your portfolio.

Manual searching & LeadMapper

Keep business research together as the list grows.

LeadMapper brings discovery, filtering and lead records into one workflow. You still research each candidate; the listing context, findings and next action stay with the business.

From filter to spreadsheet

Export the business shortlist to CSV.

Take the businesses you want to research into a spreadsheet. The demo download follows your current filters and order; in the app, use the export scope that matches the list you want to work on.

  1. 01

    Try the example download.

Use the filter demo to download its matching fictional rows. The preview shows business, category, locality, website status, phone, rating and reviews; the CSV uses the app’s 16-column current-view format.

  2. 02

    Export your working view.

In the app, export the current result view or selected rows using the supported CSV actions. The current view covers its loaded, filterable data and respects the order you are using.

  3. 03

    Open it in your spreadsheet.

CSV files can be opened in Excel or Google Sheets for research and preparation. Keep your findings with the business name and source, so you can return to the candidates you reviewed.

A complete-search export is a separate scope and can contain businesses excluded from a no-website view. The Google Maps to CSV page explains the columns and the supported result exports in detail.

Save prospects with their research and next action.

Keep relevant businesses as lead records, with the contact details you know, your website checks and a dated task. Record the conversation and update the status as the prospect progresses.

  • Keep the context with the business.

Save selected prospects and add known contact details. Put the website check, sources and unanswered questions in the record, so the next conversation starts with the research you have already done.

  • Give the next action a date.

Set a research or follow-up task, then record calls, notes and conversations in the lead history. Update New, Contacted, Qualified or Proposal to reflect your work; Won or Lost records the outcome.

Bulk conversion can add the no-website tag and an initial research task. The tag records the listing signal, and your notes record the wider checks. Review existing lead status and your history before contacting a business again.

FAQ

Questions about finding businesses without websites.

How do I find businesses without websites?

Search a business type and location in LeadMapper, then apply No website listed or the no-website/4.5★ preset. Add rating or phone filters where useful and sort the shortlist by reviews. Research each candidate’s wider online presence before deciding whether to approach it about a website.

Does “No website listed” confirm there is no website?

No. It means no website value was returned in the result. The business may have a site elsewhere or a website that was not returned. Search the business name and location, review relevant links and record what you found before treating it as a website prospect.

Can I find businesses without websites near me?

Set the relevant town or city and country in the app, then search the business types you want to research. You choose the target location. The fictional Leeds demonstration on this page does not detect your location or run a live business search.

What does the no-website/4.5★ view include?

It includes returned listings with no website value and a rating of at least 4.5. The view allows any phone availability. Add Phone listed separately when a listed business number is useful for the work you want to do next.

Are Facebook-only businesses included?

If a Facebook URL is returned in the website field, the business counts as having a website value and is excluded by No website listed. If the website field is empty, it may appear. Check social profiles manually to establish whether an independent business website also exists.

Can I find businesses with broken or outdated websites?

Website presence does not check quality, age or availability. An existing URL remains a populated website field, even if the site is unreachable or outdated. Review sites manually if your service includes redesigns or maintenance; this filter does not perform a website audit.

Which businesses should I research first?

Start with categories and locations you understand, so you can assess the work against your portfolio. Use rating, review count and contact details to organise the list. Research the business and speak with it to establish service fit, needs and interest.

Can I export the business shortlist?

Yes. Use the supported current-view or selected-row CSV actions in the app. The current view covers its loaded, filterable data; a complete-search export is a separate scope. The demo download contains the matching fictional rows in the sort order you choose.

Can I save the businesses in a CRM?

Yes. Save chosen prospects to LeadMapper’s built-in CRM, add contact details you know and record website checks in notes. Set research or follow-up tasks with dates, record conversations and update the lead status as you work through the prospect.

Does LeadMapper find verified owner emails?

This listing workflow does not identify business owners or enrich email addresses. A returned phone number is a possible business contact route. Confirm the right person to speak with and add contact information you obtain to the CRM record yourself.

Build your next website prospect shortlist.
