The three search modes solve different coverage problems. Choose based on the shape of your territory, then check the live estimate in New search before you run anything.
Single: inspect one place from one point
Single searches from one point and collects pages of results there. Use it for a first look at a town, a small local market or a rare business type. It is also the easiest way to test whether your query returns the right kind of business. One point cannot reliably represent every neighbourhood of a large city.
- Example: dentists near a small town centre.
- Choose Single when you need a quick sample before a wider run.
- The account may cap how many result pages a Single search can collect. Check the mode card and estimate.
Grid: cover one continuous area more evenly
Grid repeats the query from an N×N set of points around one centre. Use it when one central search would favour nearby businesses and miss parts of a district or city. LeadMapper merges businesses found at multiple points into one list. More points expand coverage and raise the possible credit cost.
- Example: plumbers across a large city district.
- Choose Grid when the territory is one continuous area.
- Set the grid size and radius by looking at the map preview, then read the maximum credit estimate.
Bulk: repeat a term across many named areas
Bulk runs one term across multiple postcodes or suburbs, one area at a time. You can choose areas around a place or enter postcodes, postcode ranges and suburbs yourself. Use it for a territory defined by area names rather than one circle on a map. The combined export lists each business once.
- Example: electricians across a sales territory made of several postcodes.
- Choose Bulk when you have a list of areas to cover or want one search per postcode or suburb.
- Preview the areas, exclude any you do not need and consider a credit cap.
A quick way to decide
- 1Need to test a query or inspect one small place? Start with Single.
- 2Need more even coverage across one city or district? Use Grid.
- 3Need to work through a list of postcodes or suburbs? Use Bulk.
- 4Still unsure? Run Single first, inspect the results, then broaden the area if needed.
