From local search to prospect list

Find local businesses that fit your offer.

A local business lead finder helps you discover companies in a business category and location, then assess them as potential customers. LeadMapper keeps the listing details, shortlist and next sales action connected.

  1. 01

    Choose a market.

Start with the business type you sell to and a city or local area you can serve. Set the country to make the location clear.

  2. 02

    Review the results.

Check business names, returned categories and addresses. Use the available phone, website, ratings and reviews as research context.

  3. 03

    Build your shortlist.

Filter the result list around your offer, then research whether each business fits before planning a conversation.

  4. 04

    Keep the next step.

Download a CSV for a spreadsheet or save suitable prospects as leads with notes, call logs and dated tasks in the CRM.

Business type × place

Search by business type, city or local area.

Choose the business type that fits your offer and the location you want to explore. LeadMapper searches Google Maps listings from that starting point and organises the returned businesses for your review.

  • Business-type searches such as trades, clinics, salons, cafes, shops and professional services
  • A city, town, suburb or postcode, with a country set to target the results
  • Business names and available listing details, including phone, website, rating, reviews and category

Exploring a wider area?

Grid search discovers businesses from multiple points and merges the returned listings within that search. Review their addresses to check local relevance.

Local business leads by city

Start with a business type you understand.

Focused searches make a prospect list easier to assess. Choose a sector relevant to your offer, then use the city, region and country controls to explore a market you can serve.

  • Example search

Practice focus, business fit and the relevant contact.

For small business leads, try local trades, independent practices, shops or venues that match the customers you serve. Use the listing and website to research the company’s actual size and fit.

For several markets, keep each business-type and area search identifiable. Check returned addresses, company branches and repeated businesses before combining lists or preparing a team handoff.

Adapt the term to how businesses describe their services in the target country. A plumber search can also return drainage or water-heater services; review the categories and narrow the results where helpful.

What your business lead list contains

Keep the listing details you need for research.

Business names, categories, locations and available contact details give you a starting point for prospecting. Fields vary by listing, so an empty value is something to check when it matters to your offer.

Qualify before you call

Filter local business leads around your offer.

Use category, minimum rating, phone and website availability to form a manageable prospect list. The combination you choose depends on your offer and the research you need to do.

  1. Web design agencies

Research businesses with no website returned.

Use an empty website field to choose candidates for research. Check for a current site elsewhere and understand the business before discussing web design.

  2. Local SEO consultants

Use review counts to plan SEO research.

Sort by reviews to organise your research. Check the current profile, website and local market before assessing which SEO services may be relevant.

  3. B2B sales teams

Build a focused B2B call list.

Keep relevant business categories with a listed phone, then check services, territory fit and the right contact before your approach.

Explore a wider local market

Find businesses from multiple Google Maps search points.

Use grid search when you want to explore an area from several discovery points. LeadMapper combines the returned listings into the search result list and removes duplicate listings within that search.

  1. 01

    Test the business term.

Run a focused search and review whether the businesses suit your offer. Use those findings to refine the query or local area.

  2. 02

    Plan a wider search.

Choose the grid and area in the app, review the search footprint and estimated credits, then run the discovery across those points.

  3. 03

    Review the coverage.

Check the returned addresses and services against your target market. Review overlaps when combining independent searches.

Search geography is a starting point for discovery. The available listings and query affect the results, so assess the areas you have explored and the business fit before treating the shortlist as your market coverage.

Local business prospecting

Turn a listing into a useful first conversation.

Use the business details to decide what to investigate. Confirm the services, local relevance and appropriate contact, then record the question or next action behind your approach.

  1. 01

    Check business fit.

Review the current profile, website and services. Confirm the location and whether the business could use the product or service you sell.

  2. 02

    Research a specific question.

Keep your observations factual. An absent URL or a review total can guide a check; the conversation establishes priorities, need and interest.

  3. 03

Confirm the contact and next action.

Find the appropriate person through the business contact route. Add the details you obtain and keep the agreed next step with the lead.

Check whether a business is already a saved lead before planning another approach. The app’s linked lead status helps you organise your records; review other CRM data and overlapping lists when they are part of your workflow.

FAQ

Local business lead finder questions.

What is a local business lead finder?

A local business lead finder helps you discover companies by business type and location so you can research them as potential customers. LeadMapper searches Google Maps listings, lets you organise the results with filters and sorting, and helps you export a shortlist or manage leads in a built-in CRM.

How do I find local business leads by city?

Choose the business type you sell to, enter the city or local area and select the country. Run the search, then review the returned categories, addresses and available contact details. Apply useful filters and check business fit before exporting the list or saving prospects as leads.

What types of businesses can I search for?

Use a business-type term relevant to your offer, such as plumbers, electricians, dentists, restaurants, salons or accountants. Search results can include related categories. Review the actual services and use the category filter to narrow the returned businesses where useful.

Can I search towns, suburbs and postcodes as well as cities?

Yes. Use the app’s location and country controls to target the place you want to explore. Include a region where it helps distinguish places with the same name. The location sets the discovery starting point; review returned addresses and service areas to check the businesses fit your market.

What business contact details are available?

Available listing details can include the business name, address, phone number, website, rating, review count and categories. Other fields depend on the returned listing and export scope. Some fields can be empty, and a listed phone may be a general business line rather than a decision-maker’s direct number.

Can I find businesses without a website?

Yes. Filter for results with no website returned in the listing data. Check the current profile and look for a website elsewhere before treating the missing field as a business need. The filter checks availability; it does not assess website quality or technical performance.

Can I filter or sort business leads by ratings and reviews?

Yes. Apply a minimum rating and use the app’s rating or review-count sorting to organise the list. Review count is a sort, not a review-count threshold filter. These numbers provide listing context; research the business and its current situation before drawing conclusions about fit or need.

Can I export local business leads to Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. Export a current result view, selected rows or a complete search using the app’s supported CSV actions. A current view covers the loaded, filterable businesses in their current order. Open the CSV in Excel or Google Sheets, or map the fields through another CRM’s import process.

Can I save prospects and manage follow-ups in a CRM?

Yes. Save chosen businesses as leads in LeadMapper’s built-in CRM. Add known contacts and notes, record calls, create dated tasks and update lead status as conversations progress. The Not yet a lead result filter checks whether a row is already linked to this CRM; it does not prove a business has never been contacted.

Is the example finder a live search or a free account?

The example finder uses three small, fictional business lists to demonstrate market selection, filters and a CSV download. It runs locally in your browser, uses no search credits and saves no leads. To run your own searches in the app, request access. Listings are collected when a search runs; check current details before outreach.

Build your next local business prospect list.

Find businesses in the markets you serve, review the listing details and keep the next step organised. Export a local business shortlist to CSV or save suitable prospects in LeadMapper’s built-in CRM. We’ll email your invite link, straight away or after a short review.
