Title

Google Maps to Excel

Open your Google Maps CSV in Excel.

Export your business list as CSV, then use Excel to sort rows, compare listing details and add your own research columns. You can save a workbook copy after importing the file.

LeadMapper downloads CSV. To create an XLSX workbook, open that file in Excel and save it in Excel’s workbook format.

    Open or import the file

    Open it in Excel. For import controls, use Data → Get Data → From Text/CSV; menu names vary by version and platform.

    Check text and separators

    Choose UTF-8 if characters display incorrectly and comma as the separator if the data appears in one column. Import Phone as Text when leading zeros matter.

  4. 04

    Review and save your workbook

    Check the columns before working with the list, then save an XLSX copy if you want workbook formatting or additional sheets.

Set the phone column’s text type during import; formatting it after digits have been dropped will not restore them.

Move your exported Google Maps business data into a spreadsheet you can organise and share with your team. CSV import gives each detail its own column for sorting, filtering and research.

Upload the downloaded file when you need it. The imported rows reflect that export; they do not automatically refresh from Google Maps.

    Open the destination spreadsheet, choose File → Import → Upload and select your CSV file.

    Choose the import settings

    Pick an import location and use the comma separator if automatic detection does not split the columns correctly. To preserve text such as phone numbers, disable conversion to numbers, dates and formulas when that option is shown.

    Review the imported rows

    Check headers, phone formatting and row counts, then add research notes or apply spreadsheet filters.

Check the destination before uploading

Your CRM may require extra fields, a particular column order or address details split into separate cells. Prepare those values in a spreadsheet and test a small import before uploading the full list. Compatibility depends on the CRM’s import requirements.

These are business listing records. Listed phone numbers and websites support further research; the export does not automatically identify decision-makers or supply verified email contacts.

Make sense of the downloaded data

Understand missing fields and duplicate rows.

A useful business export makes its scope clear. Read blank cells, repeated businesses and listing signals in the context of the search that produced them.

Understand blank cells

A blank text cell usually means that detail was not returned. A missing website field means no website was returned on the listing; the business may have a site elsewhere. Explore the no-website workflow.

Know the duplicate-removal scope

Repeated listings from overlapping search points are removed within an individual search. A results view combining different searches can include the same business again. Review combined lists before importing them into another tool.

Work with search-time information

Ratings, review counts, hours and status reflect the data returned when the search ran. Stored records and downloaded spreadsheets do not continuously update. Check important details again when you use them.

Google Maps CSV export questions, answered.

Which columns are included in the CSV?

The whole-search CSV contains 14 columns: business names, addresses, listed phones and websites, ratings, review counts, categories, hours, the Google Maps link, price range, open state, service options and coordinates. All-results view and selection exports have 16 columns with search and lead context. Selection within an individual search has 13 columns. See the full export column guide.

Can I export only filtered results or selected businesses?

Yes. Export the matching rows from your loaded results view in its current sort order, or use the selection controls to choose specific businesses. Check the row count and any partial-results notice before downloading. Use the full-search export when you want the saved results and fuller listing details from one search.

Can I open the CSV in Excel or download XLSX?

The CSV can be opened or imported in Excel. LeadMapper currently exports CSV rather than native XLSX. After importing, save an Excel workbook copy if you need workbook formatting or additional sheets. Follow the Excel walkthrough.

Can I import the file into Google Sheets?

Yes. Download your CSV, then use File → Import → Upload in Google Sheets. Choose the import location and separator, and review the phone formatting and column headers. This is a file import; the spreadsheet does not automatically sync with LeadMapper or Google Maps. See the Google Sheets steps.

Can I import Google Maps business data into my CRM?

You can prepare the CSV for a CRM that supports a compatible import. Check required fields, map columns such as Title to Company and Phone to Business phone, and test a small import. Some tools require extra preparation, such as splitting addresses. See an example field mapping.

Are duplicate business listings removed?

Repeated listings found at overlapping search points are removed within an individual search. Separate searches may return the same business again, so a combined results view can include repeated businesses. Review the scope of the list you export.

Why are some cells blank?

Some details are unavailable or were not returned for a listing. A blank website field means no website was returned on that listing; it does not prove the business has no site elsewhere. Optional fields such as price range or service options will often be blank for some types of business.

Does the CSV include email addresses?

Automatic email discovery and verification are not part of the current export. Listed business phone numbers and websites are included when available. Use those details for further contact research; a website URL does not mean an email address has been extracted from it.

How do I preserve phone numbers and accented characters?

Use UTF-8 when importing if accented characters display incorrectly. In Excel, import phone columns as Text to preserve leading zeros. In Google Sheets, turn off automatic conversion during import when that option is shown. Check the resulting values before using the list; formatting after digits have been removed will not restore them.

Can I export the whole search as JSON instead?

Yes. The full-search download supports JSON as well as CSV. JSON includes structured listing data and search metadata for your own data workflows. Results view and selected-row exports are CSV; their columns differ from the full-search export.
