A normal Google Maps search looks around one spot. Bulk scrape repeats your search in each postcode or suburb across a region, then combines the results into a single list with the repeats taken out.

One search per postcode

Fewer, cheaper searches. Each one is centred on the middle of its postcode, and postcodes that share one spot, such as PO box postcodes in a city centre, are searched once, so you don’t pay twice for the same place.

Google Maps bulk scrape questions.

What is a Google Maps bulk scrape?

It runs one search, such as plumbers, in many areas at once: every postcode or suburb around a place, across a town or city, or from a list you paste in. Each area is searched on its own, one after another, and the results are combined into one list where each business appears once.

How is bulk scrape different from grid search?

Grid search spreads search points in a square across one area, which suits going deep in a busy place. Bulk scrape runs your search in each postcode or suburb across a wider region, which suits covering a whole city, region or sales territory. Both return the same business details.

How many areas can one bulk scrape cover?

Up to 500 postcodes or suburbs in one run. Around a place, the radius can be anything from 1 to 100 km. If your list is bigger than 500 areas, the first 500 are kept and you can split the rest into another run.

Which countries does it work in?

Bulk scrape uses postcodes (ZIP codes in the United States), so it works in the countries LeadMapper has postcode data for: Australia, United States, United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, India, Germany, France and Japan. Single and grid searches aren’t limited to these countries.

Should I search each postcode or each suburb?

One search per postcode is cheaper, because there are fewer searches. One search per suburb is more thorough, because a postcode that holds several suburbs is searched once for each. The plan shows how many searches each choice makes before you start.

How many credits does a bulk scrape use?

Each area is one search, which usually uses approximately 10 credits in a busy area and never more than 15. Quiet areas run out of results sooner and use fewer. Before you start, the plan shows the estimated credits and the most the run could use. You can set a credit cap so no new area starts once the run reaches it, and any run that could use more than 300 credits asks you to confirm first.

What happens when a business is found in more than one area?

Neighbouring areas often overlap. The combined export lists each business once, with a Found in column that names every area it appeared in. While the run is going, the unique business count shows how many different businesses have been found so far.

Can I skip areas I’ve already searched?

Yes. Choose to skip areas searched for the same term in the last 7, 30 or 90 days, and those areas are left out of the run so you don’t pay for them again.

Can I pause or stop a run?

Yes. Pausing lets the area searching now finish, then nothing new starts until you resume. Stopping ends the run and keeps everything found so far, and every area already searched keeps its own results.

How long does a bulk scrape take?

Areas are searched one after another, and each usually takes 10 to 30 seconds, so 50 areas take roughly 10 to 25 minutes. The plan shows an estimate before you start. The run carries on in the background, so you can close the page and come back.

Will it find every business in the region?

Not always. It finds businesses listed on Google Maps that match your search, and each area returns up to approximately 300 listings. A very broad search in a dense area can reach that limit; a more specific search term or searching per suburb can help.
