B2B territory prospecting

Find local B2B leads in your sales territory.

Search Google Maps by business type and area, filter prospects with a listed phone and build a focused territory list. Export to CSV or manage research, calls and follow-ups in LeadMapper’s built-in CRM.

B2B territory prospecting

Turn a sales territory into a prospect list.

B2B territory prospecting starts with the businesses you sell to and the areas you serve. LeadMapper brings Google Maps discovery, listing filters, CSV exports and a built-in CRM into that workflow.

  1. STEP 01

    Search your market.

Choose a business type and location. Work through the cities, suburbs or neighbourhoods that matter to your sales territory.

  2. STEP 02

    Build the shortlist.

Review categories and addresses. Filter for a listed phone or website and businesses not yet saved as CRM leads.

  3. STEP 03

    Prepare the next action.

Export the current list to CSV for a spreadsheet, or save selected businesses as leads to research and contact.

  4. STEP 04

    Keep follow-ups moving.

Add contact details you confirm, log calls, record notes and set a dated task for the next step in the CRM.

Try the list-building workflow

Build a local B2B prospect shortlist.

This is the results screen after nine area searches. Narrow the territory by search, category, rating, phone, website or pipeline status, tick the rows worth calling, save them as leads, and export the view as CSV.

Make the location clear.

Use the country, region and local area to make the search location clear. Review the returned addresses before preparing a rep’s list: a business found from a search point can be outside your intended boundary.

Use grid search for wider areas.

Use Google Maps grid search when you want to discover businesses from multiple points across an area. It combines overlapping listings within that search. Separate searches can repeat a business, so review overlaps when assembling your territory lists.

Start small, then expand.

For a larger market, start with one business type in one area and check whether the results suit your offer. Expand the searches from those findings and review how much of the territory you have explored.

Make the listing details useful

Filter a business list around your sales approach.

Narrow the returned businesses to a practical starting list. A listed phone gives you a contact route; your research and conversations establish fit, the buyer and the opportunity.

Local business prospecting

For teams selling to local businesses.

Use the same territory prospecting workflow wherever business type and location help you identify likely customers. Adapt the search and qualification criteria to the product or service you sell.

Suppliers and distributors.

Search trades such as electricians, plumbers or HVAC contractors in your service area. Research the work they do and who handles purchasing before discussing supplies or equipment.

Software and business services.

Search restaurants, salons, gyms or professional practices that fit your product. Review their current services and enquiry routes before asking about booking, payments or operational needs.

Agencies and consultants.

Find local businesses in the markets you serve, review their public presence and record the findings behind your approach. Follow the dedicated web design or local SEO workflow when that matches your offer.

Sales reps exploring a new area.

Build an initial list for a city or neighbourhood, check the business addresses and prepare research or calls. Export a reviewed shortlist for your team’s handoff process.

Example searches include electricians in Toronto, restaurants in Chicago, salons in Manchester and accountants in Sydney. Choose the markets you can serve and review each prospect’s fit before extending the list.

CSV, Excel and Google Sheets

Export a territory call list with useful context.

Keep the business name, address, available phone and website with the source search and linked lead status. A CSV gives your team a spreadsheet starting point for research, calls or a territory handoff.

FAQ

B2B territory prospecting questions.

What is B2B territory prospecting?

B2B territory prospecting means finding potential business customers in the areas your sales team serves. In LeadMapper, you search business types and locations, review the Google Maps listings, filter a manageable shortlist and export it or save suitable businesses as CRM leads.

How do I find local B2B leads in my sales territory?

Start with the business types that fit your offer and split your territory into useful cities, suburbs or neighbourhoods. Run a search for each type and area, then review the categories, addresses and available contact details. Check business fit before adding a prospect to your sales workflow.

Can I build a business call list with phone numbers?

Yes. Set the phone filter to Phone listed to keep businesses with a number returned in the listing data. Export your current view or save chosen rows as leads. The number may reach a reception desk or general business line; confirm the appropriate contact before planning your approach.

Can I exclude businesses already saved in the CRM?

Yes. The Not yet a lead filter keeps result rows without a linked LeadMapper CRM lead. It does not compare against a separate CRM, match all branches of a company or prove the business has never been contacted. Review existing records and overlapping lists where relevant.

Does Google Maps grid search cover my whole territory?

Grid search uses multiple discovery points and combines the returned listings, removing duplicates within that search. It can help explore a wider area. Results depend on the query and available listing data, so check addresses and coverage before treating the list as a territory prospecting plan.

Are duplicate businesses removed across separate area searches?

Duplicate listings are removed within each search. A business can still appear in separate searches with overlapping areas or different terms. Review those overlaps when combining territory lists or preparing exports for multiple sales reps.

Can I export a territory prospect list to Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. The app supports current-view, selected-row and complete-search CSV exports. A current view follows the loaded, filterable rows and their order. Its 16 columns include business details, search query, search location, search ID and linked lead status. Choose the export scope that suits your handoff.

Can I log calls and manage B2B sales follow-ups?

Yes. Save chosen businesses in LeadMapper’s built-in CRM, add known contacts and notes, record calls and create tasks with due dates. Update each lead’s status as conversations progress, keeping the next action with the business record.

Is LeadMapper territory management or route planning software?

LeadMapper’s territory prospecting workflow helps you discover businesses, organise result lists and manage leads. Use your team’s territory rules to decide which areas to search and which rep should work an export. Automated territory ownership, rep allocation, quotas and optimised visit routes are outside this workflow.

Does LeadMapper provide decision-maker emails or qualified sales leads?

The listing search returns available business details such as a phone number and website. It does not identify a verified decision-maker, enrich email addresses or establish buying interest. Research the business, confirm the right person and qualify the opportunity through your conversations.

Build your next B2B territory prospect list.

Find local businesses in the areas you serve, build a focused shortlist and keep the next action organised. Export your territory list to CSV or work suitable prospects in LeadMapper’s built-in CRM. We’ll email your invite link, straight away or after a short review.
